Script - Draft and Finalising draft

Now all I need to do now is to add, edit audio and draw pictures.
Although I need to record my voice and the script.
I am determined to complete this task and prove I can do it before next week.

Tomorrows plan:

Recording: Borrow a mic from the labs and get someone to show me how to operate it.
Audio: Grab sound effects off the internet and check for copyright.

Daily:

Pictures: Draw, scan images and colour using Photoshop.

Personal Video Assignment

Planning:

Thinking of an idea to create a movie and what type of movie, my idea was:
manga (cartoon comic) > comedy.

Possible idea’s of what the story was to be about:

Vampires – A comidy rip off of twilight

Computers – how frustrating when errors occur.

Dance music animation – have random songs play with my animations.

Materials:

Graphic Pen

Computer

Pencil

Photoshop

Eraser

Graphics tablet

Paper

Scanner

Possible timeline:

1- 3 mins

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finalising idea

Mixed Dance Music Animation.

Possible songs for animation:

From Apollo (hard drive)

1985

Fat boy slim - Kung fu fighting techno remix

Jason Mraz - I’m yours

Best friend

One step at a time

Katy Perry - Hot n cold

Killers – Human

- Pictures of you

My chemical romance - Teenagers

The Offspring - Why don’t you get a job

Fireflies

Pink - So what

Red hot chilli peppers- snow (hey oh)

3oh!3 - Don’t trust me

akon – sexy bitch

From Kingston (USB)

Sara Bareilles - King of anything

Taio Cruz - Break your heart

Nena – 99 red ballons

Amy winehouse – rehab

Snow patrol – chasing cars

Bodyrockers - I like the way you move

Bruno Mars – Just the way you are

Estelle – American boy

New idea: due to not being able to make the animation because of not enough mixed sounds involved. I have to rethink of what to do.

NEW Final idea:

Computers.

Story ideas:

Do’s and don’t of a computer.

Operating a computer if errors pop up.

How to destroy a computer.

Have tons of things that can stuff up your computer.

Example: A sledgehammer colliding with your computer will destroy it.

What is a computer?

Write a lot of bull-cookie up about what you can’t do with a computer.

Example: A computer is something you can take to work to brainwash the clients with.

Thoughts:

I like the ‘What is a computer?’ and ‘How to destroy a computer’. I’m thinking of combining the two ideas but keep the title “what is a computer?”

I don’t know how I will get the audio/ voice recording… probably just get the computer voice and record and edit that.
Footage I’ll grab off the net and re-arrange and mute the original sound and create a new sound… but at the moment it’s not looking too promising, so I think I’ll just draw it up and find sound effects for movie. I don’t know if I can do it within a week considering I only found out last week about this assignment even though it was mentioned 6 weeks ago but I will see how I go.

Before enroing into the University of Southern California, a film school which he became friends with George Lucas, Hal Barwood, Robert Dalva, Willard Huyuck, Don Glut and John Milius they would become known as friends The Dirty Dozen and all of would go on to be successful filmmakers

“I think every age has a medium that talks to it more eloquently than the others. In the 19th century it was symphonic music and the novel. For various technical and artistic reasons, film became that eloquent medium for the 20th century.”

Quoted by Walter Murch.

Publishing History:

1969 – Editing and mixing sound with Francis Ford Coppola’s The Rain people. Murch also worked on Gorge Lucas’s THX 1138, a fellow student from University of Southern California, edited Coppola’s American Graffiti and The Godfather.

1974 – The Conversation, which he won an Academy Award for edited sound, Murch also released in the same year The Godfather Part II in which he mixed the audio of this title.

1979 – Apocalypse Now, most famous sound design work which won Murch his first Oscar for the sound mix. It was the first multi-channels film to be mixed using a computerized mixing board.

1985 – In this year Walter Murch directed a film called Return to Oz which Murch co-wrote with Gil Dennis.

1990 – Ghost is one of the most well remembered movies of its time, even to this day.

1996 – The English Patient based on Michael Ondaatje’s novel won Murch two Oscars for both Sound mixing and editing. Murch was the first person to be awarded an electronically edit film (using Avid system) and was the only person to win a Oscar for both sound mixing and film editing

1997 – In a documentary the Return to Oz: The joy that got away would be dedicated to Murch.

2003 – Murch edited Cold Mountain another Anthony Minghella film.

Film editing is now something almost everyone can do at a simple level and enjoy it, but to take it to a higher level requires the same dedication and persistence that any art form does.”

Quoted by Walter Murch.

Innovations:

Walter Murch is considered one of the three fathers in Cinema because of his ability as a editor, to create films using different systems in order to create that sound effect:

· Julia (1977) using Moviola.

· Apocalypse Now (1979), Ghost (1990) and The Godfather, Part III (1990) using KEM flatbed.

· The English Patient (1996) using Avid.

· Cold Mountain (2003) using Final Cut Pro
